The Heart of Jem’s Church of Love

A place where love is the purpose, and every heart finds belonging.

My name is Jem, and I have a deep love for people. After surviving a failed suicide attempt, I found a renewed passion for life and a commitment to living with purpose. Today, I am establishing my nonprofit, Jem’s Church of Love, which is built on a simple yet profound belief:

If you were born, you have a purpose. And if you haven’t yet discovered your pur- pose, know this—your purpose is to love and to receive true love.

Through Jem’s Church of Love, we aim to provide more than 1,000 meals a week to Los Angeles’ vulnerable homeless community. This mission is inspired by my expe- riences volunteering at the Bowery Mission in New York City and by my belief in the transformative power of unconditional love.

I have also had the privilege of fostering two young girls, who now live empow- ered lives on their own terms. These experiences taught me the value of showing up for others, even when life feels imperfect.

I am human. Like everyone, I carry traumas, but they do not define me. Instead, it is the love I share that forms the core of my identity. I strive to be a light wherever I go, offering hope, compassion, and a reminder that we are all deserving of love and be- longing.

As a mentor, advocate, and servant leader, I am not perfect, but I am present. I am committed to helping others see their value, discover their purpose, and embrace the love they were created to give and receive. Together, we can change hearts, heal per- spectives, and remind people where they fit in this world—with love at the center.
